Opening Day of Paddlefish Season. Fish Shuttle service from the Pumphouse area: 701-770-5168. Report from the Cleaning Station was 16 fish cleaned by 10:30 a.m. The very first one in was a 96 pounder! Steady. 80+ fish in by late afternoon. 115 for the day, 34 of which were females.
Fishermen: Please use respect and common sense when parking, camping, etc. The road to landowner's homes and farms needs to be open wide enough for big equipment. Thank you. |

15 have come in by 9:30 this morning; looks like a reasonable day of fishing. By suppertime the numbers were at 130 for the day. Had quite a few really big females in this afternoon, one at 115#. There were record numbers of fishermen at the Confluence and Sundheim Park. Unbelievable. Finished with 168 for the day.
The Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center will celebrate the opening of the paddlefish season at the Confluence on Saturday, May 2 with with special opportunities for anglers and others. Fred Ryckman, the NW District Fisheries Supervisor for the ND Game and Fish Department, will deliver presentations on numerous aspects related to the paddlefish at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT. Additionally, the Confluence Center will offer for sale a limited number of one-of-a-kind hats and long-sleeve t-shirts that celebrate paddlefishing at the Confluence. All of the events are free and open to the public. Free refreshments, including hot coffee, will be served all day. |

The day is starting slowly. The first female came in at 9:30 a.m. Tis a beautiful day out there. Don't have the official numbers yet but they were between 40-50 early evening.
For those wondering, it looks good for another weekend of fishing, so go ahead and make your plans. |

| The fishing is great, don't let the low numbers fool you. There is hardly anyone out there, and several have come this morning, caught their fish, and gone already. Fishing was good all day, although, again, there were so many fewer people than what we are accustomed to. |

| The cleaning station personnel are apparently alone down there. Only 6 fish have been brought in by 5 pm. Sundays, as a rule, get quieter yet, so it looks like this will be our last day in operation. The season is still open. |
